Hunters Sky
When I saw the excavated Mesolithic tools among the permanent collection at Burgh House Museum in Hampstead London, I realised that the Mesolithic period in Britain was the same time as the early Jomon period in Japan, and both peoples were hunters.
That was fascinating to me.
I was thus inspired to create a bridge between them in this series.
The images are drawn with hand made charcoal sticks; plus cleaned, burnt then sieved soil from Akita-prefecture (one of Jomon excavated sites) in Japan and from the garden at the Burgh House Museum in Hampstead, Britain.
